Although the bad news continues to invade our lives, not a day ago, I did not hear a beautiful story of no resignation. Every day I discover a new human being standing, acting and not giving up.
I am thinking of some famous people, such as Denis Mukwege, the Congolese Nobel Peace Prize winner and Thierry Michel, a Belgian director. After 10 years of wars in the Congo, in the total indifference of the rest of the world, both still find the energy to denounce the unspeakable, and not to resign themselves. What a lesson in trusting human nature!
There’s another story I’ve just heard that makes me happy. Sergei Zimov and his son Nikita are reintroducing large herbivores in the Russian steppes to curb warming permafrost… and it works. I love their story which also gives me so much confidence in the future. I wish the young people felt it too and never believed that acting and changing is vain.
